** All probiotic strains were isolated from freshly voided faeces of healthy avian donors, which resided at the University of Alberta farm, without symptoms of illness, without taking antibiotics or probiotics, for at least 30 days prior to faeces collection for lactic acid bacteria strain isolation.

***All probiotic strains were isolated from freshly voided faeces of free-range heritage birds, which reside at Breezy Bird Farms located in Manitoba, Canada, without known health conditions.
